CfPS 2011: Accountability, transparency & commissioning – delivering for people & places
Thursday 2nd June, 2011
CfPS announces shortlist for the Good Scrutiny Awards 2011
Please note: Competitive conference rates for CfPS 2011 are available on our dedicated website.
Increasingly, the way services are commissioned will define how public services are delivered. GP consortia will commission local health services from a wide range of providers and the NHS Commissioning Board will commission primary care and specialised services. A number of councils are exploring “enabling” status, contracting out the delivery of the bulk of their services. Across the public sector, a push towards shared services arrangements will see organisations coming together to commission services jointly. The Big Society has the potential to profoundly change the way public services are delivered.
In this new landscape, where do effective scrutiny and accountability fit in? If services are going to be defined more and more by commissioning and contracting arrangements, how can we ensure these arrangements are transparent, inclusive and accountable?
These questions and many others will be explored at next year’s CfPS conference. Our 9th annual conference will focus on commissioning – examining the key issues of transparency, involvement and accountability. With services being delivered by a far wider range of organisations, effective governance will become more of a challenge. CfPS 2011 will address how non–executives across the public sector can face these challenges head on. Our dedicated conference website will be up and running shortly, please look out for the link on our front page.
