Ann is the Regional Advocate for the South of England with CfPS, and has been an Expert Adviser since 2007 when the programme was established.
She led on the South West scrutiny development project for three years and continues to support its regional overview and scrutiny and health scrutiny networks. Ann has undertaken scrutiny reviews for a wide range of councils, has delivered training, induction and conferences, and has produced scrutiny reports for a full range of council types and political control. A former councillor, cabinet member and in the leadership of a London borough, Ann has run a local government consultancy since 2007. She specialises in development work with elected members, especially in the light of public sector reforms, exploring the changing role of the frontline councillor. Ann is particularly interested in the role of the non-executive or influential councillor.
