Now he's quoting Blur lyrics. RE: "Eric Pickles announces plans to scrap Audit Commission" - Ed Hammond - 16-08-2010 10:22 AM Well, if it's Blur songs now: "No Distance Left to Run" Possibly also "This is a Low" if you work for the AC and found out last Friday out of the blue that you were going to be losing your job... Personally I'm surprised that they've been abolished wholesale. Most of the work they do relates to financial audit through district auditors and they were retooling themselves to focus much more visibly on this in the future. I'm not sure if placing some of this financial audit work in the hands of private companies will work out cheaper, or more effective. I do also think that a lot of the criticisms that are made of the AC are a bit on the disingenuous side - and this is speaking as a person who has experienced two corporate assessments in different councils at close quarters, so I am under no illusions about how much of a nightmare inspection can be. Still, we'll see what happens. RE: "Eric Pickles announces plans to scrap Audit Commission" - Ed Hammond - 20-08-2010 02:55 PM We've produced a proper response to the abolition of the AC which can be read here - http://www.cfps.org.uk/news/scrutiny-news/central-government/?id=321 |
