Question Protocols in health scrutiny
Hello!

I'm in the process of developing a protocol between our Health Scrutiny Committee and the NHS in Surrey. It'll be the usual background legislation, duties to consult, what is substantial variation. I've got quite a few good examples from a few local authorities but I'd like to see a few more.

If you have a protocol or agreement between your health scrutiny committee and the NHS, would you mind sending it to me? As this is my first, the more examples I have the better I hope I can make ours.

Please send it to leah.odonovan@surreycc.gov.uk

Many thanks,

Leah

Hi Leah, you may have done this already, but it might be useful to meet with the key people within the NHS to get a sense of how useful or not they would find such a document and who needs to be involved at an early to get support for the document to be used in practice. There are lots of examples of protocols which have ended up been stuck on shelves and only used when there is a problem.

Hi Earl,

Yes, you're right on both accounts! I do need to meet with the NHS bodies and I've already started. Smile

Thanks,

Leah
