RE: CCfA Examples
I would have thought that the CCfA merely provides a route to get items before a committee, and one remarkably similar to one that already exists in most councils.
I don't see it as a big issue, once an issue is raised and accepted for the agenda it is dealt with the same as any other. |

RE: CCfA Examples
Hi Lauren
We had our first CCfA earlier this month; the agenda is at http://meetings.digitalmaidstone.co.uk/i...&Ver=4&J=3 and the minutes will go up there as well when approved. The meeting was very successful - the issue (an unfulfilled Section 106 agreement) was something residents had been extremely frustrated about for a long time, and the ward councillors had completely exhausted all other options, so the chance to bring it the attention of the wider Membership was something they really appreciated. We had an excellent public turnout (we held the meeting at a venue in the relevant area to try to make it as accessible as possible), and it was the first time one of the relevant developers had turned up to a public meeting about the issue. We've since had a lot of really positive feedback from both members of the public and the ward councillors, so although it was a lot of work making it all happen, it was definitely worthwhile. The main thing, though, is managing expectations - we had our Chairman emphasise at the end that the recommendations were only that, and the final decision would rest with the Cabinet. Everyone seemed ok with it though, I think they were just grateful that so many Councillors and officers had turned out to try and get the situation sorted. Louise |

RE: CCfA Examples
Keith- I'm mainly looking to for 'real life' examples of CCfA's at public meetings to see how these meetings have been managed and the outcomes.
I take it from your response that North West Leicestershire hasn't had any public CCfA meetings? Louise- thank you for sending me through that link, I'll keep an eye out from the minutes. Am I right in thinking that your O&S Manager drafted the cover report? We were debating within the team whether the O&S manager or the Cllr who put forward the CCfA request should draft the cover report but you seem to have gone down the route we were leaning towards. |

RE: CCfA Examples
Hello, we too had our first CCfA 3 weeks ago. Here is a link to the original CCfA proposal to the 1 June meeting:
http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/liv...rndyke.pdf This is a link to the papers to the 8 July meeting, the actual hearing: http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/liv...Action.pdf And finally here is a link to the Committee's report and recommendations on to Cabinet: http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/liv...Action.pdf Cabinet approved the recommendations with one minor amendment. It is a complex issue which could not be sorted in one meeting, and a progress report from the agencies involved will be brought to the 9 September meeting of O&S. Adriana |

RE: CCfA Examples
Hi Lauren
Yes, I did the covering report, but all this said was the stages that the CCfA had gone through to be approved and what it was hoped the meeting would achieve. The Councillor wrote the main CCfA form which had all the background information on it, and the relevant officers that had been the most involved with the issue previously also wrote a report for the agenda. With regard to the CCfA form that the councillor wrote, that was checked by myself and the Chairman, followed by Legal due to the sensitivity of some of the issues. Louise |
