RE: Committee Structures
Your Scrutiny Committee structure - 6 Committees which broadly follow Cabinet Member pirtfolios. We dont have work groups (yet)
They meet each month - times vary between 8.30 and 4,45 10 Councillors on each - all are pol balanced. Chairs receive allowance. No vice chairs Pros - clear lines of accountability - Cons - silo mentality?? Go to www.newport.gov.uk/scrutiny to find out more... Hope this helps, |

RE: Committee Structures
Rather than repeat and repeat, why not include the details on the Local Authorities page that the CfPS has kindly provided for us... (Ed happy to take cash or cheque)

RE: Committee Structures
Hi Louise,
In Tameside: 4 Scrutiny Panels (OSCs) that mirror cabinet portfolios together with LSP thematic partnerships and the LAA. They meet monthly 2 at 2pm and 2 at 5pm. Membership varies between 9 and 17 and they are politically balanced one chaired by opposition - 2 deputy chairs from opposition. Chairs paid approx £10k and Deputies approx £2k. Format very much based on select cttees, very short agendas, members can get very involved, built up good reputation, in depth reports well received but policy reviews can take a long time. Regards, Howard |
