Well, the obvious choice would be us here at CfPS, but I recognise that this is hardly the "impartial advice" that you're looking for!

Not sure about general scrutiny training, but our Members rave about the questioning skills training that RADA has provided a couple of times here. I think my manager has contact details, so if it sounds of interest let me know and I'll find out.

I would recommend CfPS for both forms of training. I have heard that Tim Young of CfPS gives a particularly good questioning skills training session.

Other suppliers that I am aware of include South East Employers and Inlogov.

Mark Lowe

Adur and Worthing Councils

Probably a usual suspect but Andrew Coulson at INLOGOV is well thought of amongst our members and has recently delived the kind of training you describe here in Swansea.

I would recommend Tim Young from CfPs, very member friendly and can deliver the difficult 'you are rubbish' message to members

I would definitely recommmend Alex Sangster (Email: chrisalex@fernlea60.freeserve.co.uk)

He is a Scrutiny Councillor at Rotheram Council - he's been involved in scrutiny for quite a while. His other job is training, so he's definitely qualified. We've had him come over to do training at Blackpool a few times for general scrutiny training, questioning techniques, charing skills and negotiating and influencing.

Members are always very responsive to his training and genuinely enjoy it. He's got a lot of energy! I think his training works well with Members because he is a Councillor too, so he can relate well to them.

Definitely recommend him!
