Withdrawl of CCfA

RE: Withdrawl of CCfA
Hi Natalie - don't think we've ever had a CCfA to withdraw, but if it was me, I would treat it as if it were any other piece of work that was formally commissioned and later deemed to be no longer required.

I would share the new information with the scrutiny Members informally, suggest that there is now no need for the investigation to take place and propose that this information be put to the committee/board for their agreement. Ultimately it is up to the Members to decide; if they agree with you that it is, and this is put to the management board this also means that there will be a formal record of what happened.

The other option is for the CCfA meeting to go ahead anyway and that meeting can then decide whether they feel the new information is sufficient.

You don't say what the CCfA relates to - this is bound to impact on how receptive they are. I've had both positive and negative experiences of trying to withdraw work - it generally depends on whether Members feel the matter is contentious or not. It might also depend on who raised the CCfA in the first place. If it really isn't contentious then the best you can do is try to persuade them that it is not a good use of their valuable time to continue.

Hope this helps!

RE: Withdrawl of CCfA
Thanks Heather.

I've done as you suggested over the last week and made an informal approach to my Chairs to see if they wished to send the isue back to the Board in light of the new information.

They were clear that they felt only part of the matter was resolved and the main issues still remained outstanding, so we're going ahead with the meeting as originally planned.

First time I've used the forum, so it's good to see that people are willing to pitch in and help out us new bods!
