Ta.

Dave,

we used to - but following the CIPFA advice some years ago, the Audit Committee became separate to the scrutiny role. The chair of the audit committee is also a scrutiny chair though.

RE: Audit Committees & Scrutiny
Dave,

Worthing also used to include Audit with Scrutiny but following the CIPFA advice a new Governance and Audit Committee was created to deal with Audit. The OSC, however, keeps a watching brief on all audit issues.

Adur has always had audit in the remit of its Constitution and Audit Committee.

RE: Audit Committees & Scrutiny
Hi Dave

Selby DC are looking to expand their O&S function to include an Audit sub-committee under the O&S umbrella. Having seen some of the initial comments on here and had reservations myself re: scrutiny taking on the previous Audit Committee, I'll be very interested to take the information to our Head of Service to help with their deliberations on their proposed changes to the arrangements of audit.

RE: Audit Committees & Scrutiny
We don't include them in Scrutiny arrangements.

Perhaps because Audit Committees were not part of Parilament's decision on local authority political management structures. After we'd all adopted constituions, it was either the Audit Commission or CIPFA that said we should graft an Audit Committee on to the new arrangements.

RE: Audit Committees & Scrutiny
Hi Dave

What are the plans in Swansea for Audit and scrutiny? Selby DC are looking to revamp their scrutiny arrangements to include an Audit Committee as part of O&S. I've looked at the comments on here and the briefing document from CIPFA with interest considering the general opinion is to keep scrutiny and audit separate.
