RE: Website changes
Hi Ed,

The fact it's taken me best part of the morning to login and download the Forum thread to comment means that the improvements to the website can't come soon enough! You refer to improvements to the Forum - is it possible to link alerts to forum posts? Ideally so that you are alerted to new additions to a thread in which you have taken part in the debate?

Thanks

Laura

RE: Website changes
Thanks Laura. It's a good idea. I'll make sure it happens.

RE: Website changes
Can confirm that we'll be doing the e-mail alerts thing.

Anything else? Thought we'd also give people the option of having an avatar if they want to...

RE: Website changes
You'll also be able to amend job adverts and scrutiny reviews that you've uploaded onto the site.

We may be introducing private messaging between individual people - I'll hopefully be able to confirm this in due course.

RE: Website changes
*excited*
  • email alerts - yes - including the option for a daily digest a la communities of practice?
  • being remebered and not having to log in each time would be very nice in deed
  • tagging would be handy but not essential
  • avatars yes - although I suspect we are a shy bunch collectively - we use gravatars
  • social integration - so we can share stuff via twitter / facebook etc etc
  • direct messaging would be handy also

Better stop there...

RE: Website changes
Pretty sure we're doing all that... if we're not already, we will be now!

Social media integration - you'll be able to see our Twitter feed on the front page, but that isn't what you mean... it's difficult, particularly when serving information directly from those sites will cause problems with many councils' firewalls. What exactly did you have in mind?

RE: Website changes
I hope that we can get the functionality to embed video/audio onto the site - we struggled to get a solution to hosting our dvd on 'young people in scrutiny'. An ability to run webcasts, interviews and reaction to news items would enhance the site I think
