Benchmarking residents' perceptions of local government
The LGA has recently published a consultation on a common suite of resident satisfaction measures for local authorities, as part of its wider work on the "LG Inform" tool which can be used by authorities to benchmark their services.

Naturally this will have an impact on scrutiny, which does use benchmarked as part of some elements of research. It also has an impact on local people, given the assumption that local residents will be able to use benchmarked information to hold their authorities to account as armchair auditors.

I'd encourage scrutiny practitioners to look at the LGA's proposals. We are not planning to provide them with a response ourselves, but if you plan to respond, please copy us in.
