Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Does CfPS/anyone know any details of the planned consultation on new health scrutiny regulations? I heard that it may be starting mid-July for 8 weeks - if this is correct it would be really unhelpful as many councillors are away in August and we have no meetings at which to discuss/agree a response!

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Thanks Claire
I'm not aware of any information from the Dept about the timing or content of the consultation. We'll ask them if they have planned the timing of the consultation and point out any obvious difficulties for councillors to respond if it's substantially over the 'summer' period. |

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Thanks Tim. That would be really helpful. Perhaps they could extend the consultation period if it covers August.

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
In case you haven't picked this up - DH has launched consultation on health scrutiny regs today, to run until 7th September! Not the best of timing if DH want to hear views of health scrutiny committees.........

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Colleagues will notice that the consultation lasts until 7 September - this is only an 8 week consultation. From the consultation document the justification for the shorter than usual timescale appears to be that the proposals have already been consulted on as part of the original NHS White Paper.
CfPS will be responding to the consultation (and also to the consultations about the draft NHS Mandate and the Care and Support White Paper). If you are making a response and would like to send us a copy of it we would be pleased to see it. I understand that the LGA are being formally consulted too. |

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
How are people responding to this? Are you doing whole authority/Council responses? or just HOSC/scrutiny?

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Hi Suzanne,
We are planning a response from our HOSC (which is wider than the County Council as it includes district council and voluntary sector reps) and a separate response from the County Council. We are also working with the other HOSCs in the South East as we share some concerns about the proposals (notably referrals via full council) and feel it will add weight to supplement individual responses with a regional one. Would be interested to hear what others are doing and any thoughts on the proposals themselves. |

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Hello
Any thoughts on what if anything these proposals do in respect of foundation trusts? I'm surprised there is so little reference to FTs |

RE: Health scrutiny regulations consultation
Hi Claire,
CfPS will also be responding - I have set up a space on the knowledge hub for people to share their thoughts - however if people want to do it in this discussion that is fine. I think you are right - individual, regional and a national response will add more weight. Su |

Is there a link to the discussion on the Knowledge Hub as I can't find it. Thanks
