Welfare Reform Reviews
Hi All
Many councils will be in the process of working out their local approach to the Welfare Reform Act 2012. Here we are about to do two pieces of work - one on the preferred approach to Local Council Tax Benefit, the other on a new Social Fund. If any councils are currently doing similar reviews please get in touch. Best wishes John Stoke on Trent City Council tel 01782 232956 john.ross@stoke.gov.uk |

RE: Welfare Reform Reviews
Hi John,
Thanks for the post as you know we are looking at this in Birmingham. We have all afternoon inquiry session in the Select Committee style taking place on the 11th September. We have done a wide call for evidence which is currently being collated and will be available to download from Tuesday 4th September from the Democracy in Birmingham website. We are interested in what other Councils are doing and the outcomes from the work. Louise Barnett Research & Policy Officer Birmingham City Council 0121 464 7457 louise_e_barnett@birmingham.gov.uk |

RE: Welfare Reform Reviews
Hello John
Here at Rugby we have two scrutiny task groups dealing with aspects of the welfare reforms: Housing Income Protection http://www.rugby.gov.uk/site/scripts/mee...eaderID=34 Localisation of council tax support http://www.rugby.gov.uk/site/scripts/mee...eaderID=33 Because the council tax support task group arrived on the scene a bit late in the day, it hasn't had a role in the formulation of the draft council tax support scheme. Instead, it is aiming to add value to the consultation by involving voluntary and community organisations, and then making recommendations. You should be able to pick up the gist of what's happening from the above links but if you or anyone else wants to know more, please get in touch. Paul Ansell 01788 533591 paul.ansell@rugby.gov.uk |
