We believe that involving people, other than key decision-makers, leads to better decisions, which can be implemented more easily, and therefore leads to better outcomes for local people. This is particularly the case at times of significant change.
Public services are transforming. CfPS works with people in key leadership, governance and transformation roles to create a culture which welcomes involvement, transparency and accountability – and by doing so enables tangible improvements to service delivery and outcomes.
CfPS has a proven track record of working with organisations to help overcome obstacles including a lack of leadership buy-in, political tensions, a lack of understanding of the role of scrutiny, poor work programme planning and the capability and capacity of scrutineers to navigate complex change projects.
We promote how scrutiny itself needs to adapt and transform if it is to be vital and valued. We have supported organisational reviews, restructures of scrutiny and steps taken in councils to improve work programme planning.
