Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives has been produced is to help PCTs and Local Authorities plan, coordinate and implement comprehensive strategies to prevent and manage overweight and obesity. It provides information and tools including useful statistics, practical initiatives, evidence of effectiveness, checklists, frameworks and examples of good practice.
It is an update on the previous toolkit Lightening the Load: Tackling Overweight and Obesity: A toolkit for developing local strategies. There are new tools that provide a breakdown of the cost of obesity to every PCT. Other new tools include research from the upcoming Change4Life campaign that provides insight into families views on diet and activity.
As the fight against spiralling obesity statistics increases in salience PCT’s and Local Authorities face the challenge of meeting both national targets and public and media expectations.

Here at the Centre for Public Scrutiny we are compiling reviews and additional analysis for the first edition of the next generation Scrutiny Review Library Monitors. The theme of Library Monitor 9 will be: Childhood Obesity. It should be used as a starting place for scrutiny reviews into this area and will contain advice from review authors and a unique comparative analysis of review methodologies as well as a thematic introduction into the subject. We expect to complete this review by the end of October 2008. Keep an eye on our Scrutiny Reviews page and publications page for more news of this and other releases.
We would like to invite organisations to tender for the event management of our 2011 annual conference. More info
