Health Scrutiny Support Programme wins new funding

CfPS has successfully bid to the Department of Health for new funding to continue the HSSP in 2012. The programme will build on current work around the health reforms and continue well established and successful aspects of former programmes.

- The pilot project 'Exploiting opportunities at a time of change' will be extended to 15 more scrutiny development areas, supported by expert advisers. The resulting learning and experience will be shared nationally through a further series of regional events.

- The CfPS is helping with the development of regulations for scrutiny to accompany the Health and Social Care Act, by continuing working with the scrutiny development areas already involved in the 'Exploiting opportunities' programme.  These local authorities will meet and share their knowledge with representatives from all the regional health scrutiny networks at the next Healthy Accountability Forum on March 12th.

- The role of the Regional Advocates will be renewed and extended, with the appointment of six advocates who in conjunction with the CfPS will provide support and development to the regional health scrutiny networks for shared learning opportunities and dialogue with health policy makers.

- The continuation of the Healthy Accountability Forum as a meeting place for representatives of the regional networks and others to learn from and influence policy makers in national debate.

- Further timely publications, such as the forthcoming Ten Questions on Immunisation, and the monthly e-newsletter

Healthy Accountability Forum : Health White Paper Series

Membership of the quarterly forum held at Local Government House is one officer and one member nominated by each of 10 regional health scrutiny networks, but with additional spaces on a first come basis.  If you would be interested in attending please contact  avril.davies@cfps.org.uk   The forum presents a good opportunity for Members and Officers involved in health scrutiny to meet face to face with policy makers. It represents the best in what is going on in the regions; debates and influences current issues and policies affecting health scrutiny; shares knowledge and information to address the future challenges to overview and scrutiny.

Dates for 2012: March 13, June 18th, September 10th, December 10th
