Health Scrutiny Support Programme 2012 - 13

CfPS successfully bid to the Department of Health for new funding to continue the HSSP in 2012. The programme has built on current work around the health reforms and continue well established and successful aspects of former programmes.

The pilot project 'Exploiting opportunities at a time of change'  has been extended to 15 more scrutiny development areas, supported by expert advisers, as the central core of the Health and Social Care Reform Programme. The resulting learning and experience will shortly be shared in a new publication drawing together the experience of all the development areas. Some additional work has informed the development of regulations for scrutiny to accompany the Health and Social Care Act.

Regional Advocates

Six Regional Advocates have been appointed who have in with the CfPS provided support and development to the regional health scrutiny networks for shared learning opportunities and dialogue with health policy makers.

Healthy Accountability Forum

The quarterly Healthy Accountability Forum has brought together leading scrutiny practitioners from around the country.

Set to continue in 2013, the forum presents a good opportunity for Members and Officers involved in health scrutiny to meet face to face with policy makers. It represents the best in what is going on in the regions; debates and influences current issues and policies affecting health scrutiny; shares knowledge and information to address the future challenges to overview and scrutiny. Membership of the quarterly forum held at Local Government House is one officer and one member nominated by each of 10 regional health scrutiny networks, but with additional spaces on a first come basis.  If you would be interested in attending please contact  avril.davies@cfps.org.uk

Dates for 2013 are March 25th,  September 9th, December 2nd
