Policy Briefing 7: Localism Bill and grant allocation
Briefing on the content of the Localism Bill from a scrutiny perspective, and on the recently announced local government grant allocation.
The Localism Bill was published on 13 December. It puts the existing scrutiny powers on a new statutory footing, and makes a number of provisions about changing governance arrangements. We have discussed the detailed implications of changing governance arrangements in our separate Policy Briefing (number 4) published today.
CfPS will be engaging closely with CLG on the scrutiny elements of the Bill, and on the wider accountability implications of other proposals. We are keen to get the views of practitioners on its contents and encourage you to contact us with your opinions. This briefing sets out the main proposals and how we think they might have an impact on scrutiny practitioners.
