Measuring what matters
A guide for overview and scrutiny committees about using ‘social return on investment’ to measure social value
This guide has been produced (with funding from the Cabinet Office) to help overview and scrutiny committees measure ‘social value’ of services through ‘social return on investment’. The guide shows how SROI can support decision making in times of financial challenge and includes questions to ask about using SROI and examples of SROI in action.
Please look out for our 12th Library Monitor on Value for Money which is being published in February 2011 as the companion-piece to this document. Value for Money will focus on the use of methodologies which look at “value” to help scrutineers to do their work more effectively, and to encourage those they are scrutinising to work more effectively as well.
