A cunning plan? Devising a scrutiny work programme

CfPS research into scrutiny work programming

CfPS have recently carried out research on work programming and annual reports, which it is publishing in two linked documents.

Work programming is one of those issues that people deal with in profoundly different ways - some by adopting a highly rigid approach using feasibilty criteria and evaluation, others by taking a more laissez-faire attitude. There are pros and cons to both approaches, but does success depend more on the culture of individual organisations, or are there some general lessons that could apply everywhere?

This research explores the issues and provides some practical tips that will help practitioners to think about what the right approach might be for them.
