Policy Briefing 9: The Big Society
A policy briefing on the role that members, and scrutiny, can play in the development of ideas around the Big Society
There has been lots of discussion at national level, and in some local areas, about the Big Society - what it means, who is involved and the potential to deliver transformative change in the provision of public services.
The policy briefing aims to set out how members, and the scrutiny function, can play a role in those discussions and developments. It gives a precis of all the ongoing activity around the country and can be used to prepare briefings for Members on this subject.
This is the latest in a series of policy briefings on national developments in policy and practice. From now on, policy briefings on various subjects will be published twice a month.
