CfPS has produceed a guide covering the legislative provisions pertaining to the local authority overview and scrutiny function in England.
There are a large number of Acts, regulations, and pieces of statutory guidance covering scrutiny. Often, being able to refer to statutory provisions is important in defending scrutiny's right to investigate certain local issues. This document will give you the confidence to be able to do this.
The various sections can be navigated through an index which will make it easy to find the patrticular issue you are looking for.
This document will be updated as new legislation is proposed, debated and enacted.
We will be producing a separate document, covering Wales, in the coming weeks.
