Hi all,
Over the summer, we are planning to produce a short series of practical briefings for officers and members highlighting some of the key issues at the moment, and highlighting opportunities, risks and solutions for scrutineers. Each will be about six or seven A4 sides long.
These will be:
1: Coming challenges for scrutiny and local government
2: Total Place (preceding our major publication on this topic in the autumn)
3: Scrutiny and the right to return to the committee system
4: Key arguments in favour of retaining dedicated scrutiny officer support in councils
The first two will be published in the next week or so - the third and fourth will follow in August.
Our production of these kinds of briefings - which can be cannibalised for use in member briefings or in your own reports - will probably become a regular way in which we keep you informed about policy developments around scrutiny and explore some of the implications of major national, and local, developments. So, any future subjects would be gratefully received.
