Repealing CCfA?? views: 1221

The notes from the National Scrutiny Forum meeting on 21 July include the following:

"Other issues discussed included transparency and openness, the recent powers around CCfA and petitions and the prospect of these being repealed . . . . . . "

Is there any real suggestion that CCfA and Petitions powers will be repealed?  All my hard work . . . . . . . .

 Hi Peter,

No, we were just having a sort of random discussion about what might come out of the Localism Bill and any future legislation. There is no suggestion at the moment that CCFA and / or Petitions legislation is to be amended or repealed.

Steve.

Re: Repealing CCfA??

Repealing CCfA would be a problem in that it was never legislated for. The words were used in consultations and White Papers but only a heavily-diluted measure made it into the Act.. The only related legislation (AFAIK) is that giving all members power to have an item considered by a scrutiny committee. That in itself is a reasonable thing to have, so would anyone bother?

I hope so!
