The Centre for Public Scrutiny promotes the value of scrutiny and accountability in modern and effective government and supports non-executives in their scrutiny role
This review looks at the health and wellbeing of people who have chosen to retire to a caravan or chalet on the Yorkshire coast. Caravan and Chalet parks are common not only along the coastline of Britain, but also inland. Many of the sites, although intended as holiday accommodation, are being used for residential purposes. A 2006 NHS study highlighted substantial health inequalities in such a commmunity in Withernsea. This review, funded by the CfPS Innovative Scrutiny programme, looked in greater depth in to the underlying causes of these inequalities, and the implications for the Council, the NHS and local partners.
