In Brighton & Hove. the issue of 20 mph speed limits/zones was referred to scrutiny; the purpose of this report is to highlight the consequences which may arise from changing the speed limit on roads in the city. During six months the panel spoke with representatives from a wide range of organisations to gather evidence and opinion on 20 mph speed limits/zones. The recommendations of this review are based on the evidence heard and the opinions put forward by experts in this field and residents.

Devon County Council’s Environment Economy and Culture Scrutiny Committee set up a Task Group to review lessons that can be learnt from the events of the 2008/09 and 2009/10 winters and to recommend what steps could be adopted by the authority, partners and other stakeholders to ensure Devon is even better prepared should similar events occur in future.
