This is the best practice guidance for the Councillor Call for Action, a provision designed to help local councillors solve problems in their wards. The CCfA is derived from s119 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, and will come into force on 1 April.

The guidance also includes information on the power to delegate council functions under s236.

Taken together, they provide interesting opportunities for local authorities to make increased use of neighbourhood working arrangements.

There are three documents:

  • The guidance itself (published above). This is a detailed document which aims to give members and officers a steer in the implementation of CCfA procedures.
  • A background evidence document. This sets out a selection of case studies of authorities who have already taken steps to implement procedures under the Councillor Call for Action.
  • A summary document will shortly be produced

These documents will also be made available on the IDeA Knowledge site on Tuesday 17th February.

You can discuss CCfA and its implications on the CfPS discussion forum.
