The Centre for Public Scrutiny promotes the value of scrutiny and accountability in modern and effective government and supports non-executives in their scrutiny role
"This guide is intended to assist local authority overview and scrutiny committees (OSCs) to understand the role, purpose and process of commissioning health services in the NHS. It is a companion guide to CfPS' Commissioning for Health."
This guide identifies issues in PBC that OSCs may wish to consider as topics for review. It is a companion to CfPS’s guide Commissioning for Health which provides overall information about NHS commissioning and the world class commissioning programme.
The guide is in two parts. The first part considers the background to PBC, how it works and some potential strengths and limitations. The second part identifies ways in which OSCs could approach the scrutiny of PBC.
We would like to invite organisations to tender for the event management of our 2011 annual conference. More info
