Fiona is responsible for developing and managing the CfPS training and events programme and providing policy and research support. She has a background in Local Government and Further Education and experience in Democratic Services and Scrutiny at county and district authorities.
She started her Local Government career in Children’s Services, supporting the implementation of early years projects and moved on to Democratic Services at Hertfordshire County Council, where she supported a wide range of committees, including Audit Committee, Health and Wellbeing Board, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Health Scrutiny Committee and a range of Cabinet Panels and Scrutiny Topic Groups. In her role as Scrutiny Officer and Member Development Co-ordinator, she led on implementing a new scrutiny committee system for East Herts Council, with a focus on pre-decision scrutiny and member engagement in work programme design. In this role, she also led on planning a bespoke training and development programme for elected members.
Prior to embarking on her career in local government, Fiona worked as a Further Education Lecturer in English to Speakers of Other Languages and volunteer refugee mentor. She has an honours degree in Classics from King’s College, London.
