Demonstrating commitment to sound business ethics is a critical component of corporate trust, and companies with public sector interests will undoubtably have found that they need to work a little harder.

CfPS work and advise in all areas of public and private organisations to extend its commitment and ethos of public good. We work with a number of major, international companies to build and focus their social value and corporate responsibility.

Companies that operate ethically, deliver a good job and recognise their wider social impact are generally better regarded by their customers and wider society. That is why many organisations are choosing to go much further in their relationships, and to use their influence and resources to improve people’s lives and places.

Building social value or corporate commitments that focus on public good generate considerable trust and reputational value. Helping companies and organisations demonstrate their commitment to corporate social responsibility and to implement effective, meaningful scrutiny is a key part of CfPS’s governance consultancy support for business.

We work with companies to set out their plans in creating the future relationship they want to shape with communities, employees, suppliers, the environment and society as a whole. We work with companies to develop charters and public commitments that are publicly reported and carefully scrutinised.

These support services are not intended or designed to conflict with or replace structures that provide corporate governance functions. They are intended to add public and customer facing commitments to build public trust and commitment to social responsibility.

Scrutiny as a business performance improver

CfPS also work with corporate clients to transfer their skills and experience of scrutiny to the business context. Using the frameworks and techniques of scrutiny to support strategy development, improve decision-making and providing objective critical-friend analysis of performance and delivery. These techniques, and a commitment to the principles of open challenge and scrutiny, can transform management culture and operational efficiency, with limited investment and disruption.
